Pressure Washer Spray Guns Compared: Which One for Your Setup

The gun that came with your pressure washer is usually the weakest part of the machine. Stiff trigger, a coupler that needs two hands, and a hose that twists itself into a knot every time you walk round the car. Swapping it is the smallest upgrade that makes the biggest difference to how a wash actually feels.

We stock three. They are not three versions of the same thing, each one solves a different problem. Here is the straight comparison, then what each one is actually for.

Which spray gun should I buy?

Short version: the G25 if your hand gets sore, the MCX 5000 PSI Swivel if you just want a better version of what you already have, and the MCX brass Quick-Connect if you wash cars for a living. The detail is below.

Why does the YISHI G25 have a trigger lock?

Because holding a trigger down for forty minutes hurts. The one-touch lock keeps it spraying without your finger, which on a full valet is the difference between a comfortable afternoon and an aching hand.

The other thing that sets it apart is the nozzle holder moulded into the gun body. Your quick-connect nozzles travel on the gun instead of in a pocket or on the ground. It is a small idea that saves a surprising amount of walking back and forth.

It is the shortest of the three, which helps in wheel arches and around tight bodywork. It is rated to 4000 PSI rather than 5000, still far more than any domestic machine will produce, so for home and mobile use the difference is academic.

What does the MCX 5000 PSI Swivel do best?

This is the straight upgrade path, and the one with the fullest published spec sheet of the three: 345 bar, 40 litres a minute, rated to 150°C. If you are running a hot-water machine or a higher-flow setup, this is the one with numbers to check against.

The swivel inlet is the part you notice. The hose rotates independently of the gun, so it stops twisting as you circle the car. It ships with a 1/4" quick socket, so nozzles and foam cannons swap in seconds rather than being screwed on.

Why choose the MCX brass Quick-Connect gun?

Two reasons: the body and the coupler.

The body is solid brass rather than plastic. That matters if the gun gets dropped on concrete several times a week, which is what happens on a working van.

The coupler is push-to-connect. You push a nozzle or a cannon straight in and it locks; you only pull the collar back to release it. Every other coupler makes you pull the collar to fit as well as to remove, which is genuinely awkward with wet gloves on. Over a day of swapping between foam cannon and rinse nozzle, it adds up.

Will these fit my pressure washer?

All three use an M22-14mm fitting, which is the standard on most pressure washer hoses and guns.

If you have a Karcher, you also need the Karcher Adapter. Karcher use their own bayonet fitting rather than M22, so nothing on this list connects without it. The adapter is £10 and also has an anti-kink swivel built in.

Before ordering, check the fitting on your existing gun. If it is a threaded collar roughly 22mm across, you are on M22 and you are fine.

Do I need 5000 PSI?

No, and this is worth being clear about, because the number is the most misunderstood spec on the page.

The PSI rating on a gun is the maximum pressure it can safely handle, not the pressure it produces. A domestic pressure washer typically puts out 1500 to 2200 PSI. A 4000 or 5000 PSI rating simply means the gun is nowhere near its limit, which is why it lasts. It will not make your machine more powerful.

What actually changes the cleaning is the nozzle. An MCX turbo nozzle concentrates the same pressure into a rotating jet, and that you will notice immediately.

What else do I need with a new gun?
